This is the case of the pot-bellied deer. Check out the photo. I don’t think the deer has been boozing it up so it’s not a beer belly. So what could be causing this rather uncomfortable looking condition?
A little history to help: This doe was observed in the backyard of a landowner this summer. Although the massively enlarged belly disrupted her normal walking and resulted in more of a waddle, the doe was not showing any other outward signs of being sick and appeared to have a fawn.
Dr. Justin Brown, PGC Vet, will provide a diagnosis in an upcoming post.
